Last week, the Pairs-aidants hosted their 15th edition of the annual Street Expression Festival, aimed at creating a specific social space to encourage interactions between the homeless youth and other Montrealers.
Media-friendly collective Les Ville-Laines were part of the program, and managed to cover a lot of urban furniture. Here is an excerpt from them:
Les Ville-Laines knitted like crazy with the people of the streets these last 2 days! We yarnbombed 4 lamp posts and created 4 banners, plus many little cyclop ghosts during our guerrilla knitting workshop at the Festival d’expression de la Rue. Thanks to those who knitted with us!
Playing an active part in the social space is a fundamental aspect of Guerilla Knitting, one which is especially important for this 4-girls crew. Having the chance to create dialogue material strenghtens the community through the various reactions, discussions or implications the audience can have with a knitting crew.
